Service Agreement for Registrants Residing in Puerto Rico
The .pr Domain Name Registry, administered by Gauss Research Laboratory, Inc., believes in
its duty to serve the local Internet community by supporting the development of strategies
that promote the adoption of Internet technologies as a tool for Puerto Rico's social and
economic development. In line with this vision, we have adopted a program that provides
residents of Puerto Rico with a discount on the registration price of .pr domain names
through www.tu.pr.
This agreement establishes the terms and conditions applicable to you, the client
registering a domain name through the page exclusively for residents of Puerto Rico,
www.tu.pr.
By completing the domain name registration process through tu.pr, you agree to the terms
and conditions included in this agreement, as well as other applicable policies available
at https://web.pr/support/legal.php.
We reserve the right to modify this agreement at any time.
I. Requirements
Any resident of Puerto Rico who wishes to use the discounted registration fee for .pr
domain names through tu.pr must comply with all of the following requirements:
- a. Submit, during the validation process, evidence that, according to our criteria, establishes that the registrant is a resident of Puerto Rico.
- b. Have a valid address in Puerto Rico to associate with all contacts required for the registration process.
II. Valid Contact Information
All registrants of a .pr domain name must provide the following information:
- a. Registrant – name of the domain name holder
- b. Administrative contact
- c. Technical contact
- d. Billing contact
- e. A valid phone number, email address, and contact information for each contact
- f. A DNS (if none is available, one will be assigned)
It is mandatory to provide valid and up-to-date contact information at all times. Any
changes to your contact information must be updated immediately. Failure to provide valid
and current contact information, or providing false contact information, will be considered
a breach of this agreement and grounds for service cancellation.
III. Permitted Use
All registrants of a .pr domain name are subject to the terms governing acceptable use of
.pr domain names. Unauthorized or abusive use of a .pr domain name will constitute a breach
of this agreement and grounds for service cancellation.
Examples of prohibited uses, without limitation, include:
- Illegal or fraudulent activities, or any activity intended to violate third-party rights or the law
- Spam: Use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages
- Phishing: Creating or using websites designed to deceive others into disclosing sensitive personal information
- Pharming: Unauthorized redirection of users to websites or services
- Distribution of malware: Unauthorized dissemination of programs designed to infiltrate computer systems
- Fast flux hosting: Use of fast flux techniques to hide or change hosting locations
- Distribution of child pornography or any activity that endangers minors
- Unauthorized access to computers or networks (hacking), or any activity related to illegally accessing third-party systems
We reserve the right to reject the registration and cancel the service of any domain name,
as well as to temporarily suspend service if we determine that prohibited use has occurred
or is occurring. We also reserve the right to monitor the use of .pr domain names to enforce
these and other applicable policies and agreements.
IV. Term of Service
A .pr domain name may be registered for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 10 years. The
special price for residents applies only to a 1-year registration period. Upon expiration
of the paid registration period, the client must pay the renewal fee to continue using the
domain name.
The maximum number of domain names that may be registered per account is 25 for an
individual account and 50 for a corporate account.
V. Modifications
Any modification to the contact information of a domain registered through tu.pr must
maintain a Puerto Rico address. Changing a local address to an address outside Puerto Rico
is not permitted.
VI. Transfers
While you may transfer a .pr domain registered through tu.pr to another registrar, doing so
will result in the loss of the resident discount, which is only available through tu.pr.
The receiving registrar will renew the domain without applying the resident discount.
Transfers between registrants: Any transfer of a domain name registered
through tu.pr may only be made to a Puerto Rico resident who completes the validation
process and meets all requirements described in this agreement. No refunds or discounts
will be provided for registration fees paid through other service providers.
VII. Registration Fee
The client is responsible for ensuring that the domain name is renewed on time. Renewal is
required when the paid service period expires. Tu.pr is not responsible for renewal
services offered by third parties as part of a transfer.
As a courtesy, we will send a payment reminder when the domain is about to expire. You are
responsible for keeping your billing contact information up to date. Failure to pay the
renewal fee on time will result in cancellation of the domain name, making it available for
registration by another client.
Automatic Renewal: You may choose to enable automatic renewal using the
financial information provided during registration. You may disable automatic renewal up to
16 days before the domain's expiration date. We are not responsible for domain expiration
resulting from invalid financial information at the time of automatic renewal.
VIII. Service Cancellation
The .pr domain registration service will be canceled if the client fails to pay the renewal
fee, breaches this or other applicable agreements or policies, requests cancellation, or as
a result of a court order or arbitration panel decision. Registration (or renewal) fees are
non-refundable, regardless of whether cancellation is voluntary or not.
IX. Maintenance
We reserve the right to temporarily suspend service to perform updates or maintenance work.
X. Sales Tax – IVU
All payments are subject to applicable sales tax (IVU) in effect at the time of the transaction.
